The premise of this DBS Series is that the combination of both Power Encounters, the supernatural demonstration of the Kingdom of God; and Truth Encounters, the proclamation of the good news of the Kingdom of God, is the most effective way of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
When Jesus first called his disciples he said, “Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Successful fisherman are careful planners whose actions are intentional and methodical. There is nothing haphazard or accidental about successful fishing.
Jesus also compared evangelism to farming and planting seeds in four types of soil (Matthew 13:3-23). He states that the seed of the good news of the Kingdom of God that falls on good soil produces a crop that multiplies and yields thirty, sixty or a hundred times as much as was sown.
The intended purpose of this series is to equip you to become effective fisherman of souls and wise harvesters who see the multiplication of their crops fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah, “for as the waters fill the sea, so the earth will be filled with people who know the Lord” (Isaiah 11:9b).
